Sandhya Sharma, PhD

Postdoctoral Scholar

Sandhya completed her PhD at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, under the mentorship of Dr. Cliona Rooney. Her research focused on boosting the clinical effectiveness of Epstein Barr virus (EBV)-specific T-cells in treating EBV-associated cancers by expanding their antigen targets and identifying T-cell subsets with stronger cytolytic potential. Now a postdoc in the Majzner lab, Sandhya is working on enhancing CAR T-cell therapy by understanding T-cell signaling and exploring tumor resistance to develop potent CAR T-cells. Outside the lab, she’s all about hiking, more hiking and bragging about her Nepal Himalayas.
